Wake Up 1 Hour Earlier
Add a productive hour to your day by getting up an hour earlier – before everyone and everything else starts imposing on your time. 1 extra hour of work before everyone else is awake/active is like 3 hours of regular work time with all the distractions that come.
Of course this rule breaks down for those with small children. No matter how earlier you wake up – say to spend time quiet time reading, meditating, praying, going for an early morning walk, spending sometime with a coffee cup – your kids internal “someone is awake alarm” will register movement in the house and they will “join” you. Sometimes this is wonderful one-on-one time. Sometimes you just need alone time.
I know people who routinely start their day at 4 or 5 in the morning, and find that they’ve completed most of the days work by noon or 1 p.m. – and have a majority of the day left for other activities. Of course you must work for yourself and have a particular type of business for this to work. You must also go to sleep by 8, 9 or 10 at the very, very latest. Otherwise you turn into to zombie on day 8.
